- 1 8 lbs ham shank
- 2 large yellow onions (peeled and quartered)
- 1 2 lb cabbage (core removed, cut into chunks)

- 2.5 lbs russet potatoes (washed and quartered)
Instructions
- Place ham shank flat side down in a 20 qt pot, cover with water, and bring to a boil. Then, cover and simmer for 30 minutes.
- Add cabbage, onions, carrots, and potatoes. Cover and cook for 2 hours or until potatoes are tender.
- Keep an eye on the pot to prevent boiling over.
- Once potatoes are tender, remove and set aside. Carefully extract the ham, carve it, and serve in a bowl with the potato, cabbage, and carrot medley. Top it off with a generous pat of butter and savor the deliciousness!
